Gillman Barracks: Project Walkway

Set in a former military barracks dating back to 1936 and surrounded by lush tropical greenery, the Gillman Barracks visual arts cluster was launched in September 2012. Gillman Barracks’ vision is to be Asia’s destination for the presentation and discussion of international and Southeast Asian art. Gillman Barracks is a place for art lovers, art collectors, and those curious about art.

The location of Gillman Barracks is not very accessible, requiring visitors to drive or walk a long distance if entering through the main entrance. There is a sheltered walkway near to the Labrador Park MRT that provides easy access to the side entrance of Gillman Barracks, often forgotten as it is hidden behind a bus stop.
The design introduces a visual and colour revitalisation to walkway and bus stop to capture passerby's attention, opens a door to fun opportunities and anticipation to Gillman Barracks.
